Scramble 100

26 March 2024 By peedub957

I didn’t previously know that the first ever Motocross race in the UK was in March 1924, just a mile away from my home and last Sunday there was a centenary event at the same location.

Being a child of the 60s and 70s, I grew up with Motocross (or “Scrambling” as we knew it then) most Saturday afternoons on ITV’s World of Sport. So with decent weather, I thought I’d take a for a look.

I used my little lightweight Canon 77d with Tamron 18-200mm lens rather than carting my heavy old sports kit but got some great shots at an enjoyable event. A fitting celebration to mark 100 years by Witley Motorcycle Club.
