The London Big Half

After the summer running event break, this was my third year covering this event; The (Vitality) Big Half was actually my first large sporting event in 2021.

As at last year’s race, I was positioned on Tower Bridge, just opposite the Tower of London, shooting runners with a 70-200 lens, hand-held (well, on a monopod) and I also had a second camera on a tripod taking automatic wide shots every few seconds with the Tower in the background.

Highlight of the day for me was that finally Mo Farah didn’t hide from me and I managed to get some great shots of him on his own!

After all the runners had passed through Tower Bridge, it was time to head on the DLR to the Finish Line at The Cutty Sark, where after the half marathon had finished, the ‘family fun run’ Big Mile took place and I was sat just behind the finish for that.
