April & May Events

The London Marathon returned to its usual April spot after the last few Covid years and again I was booked by my own client to shoot their runners, so wasn’t part of the official team.

I really like doing this shoot – I don’t have to be there from dawn to dusk, I only take my small camera and 18-200mm lens and I get to soak up some of the atmosphere! This year it was a bit damp, but it only lasted a little while. I’ve just included my favourite shot of the day (not of one of my client’s runners!)

King Arthur running the Marathon!

On 14th May, I was part of a team covering the Town & Gown 10k in Oxford. It was a fun day shooting – a few of us headed out to get some shots from the Start, then headed back for the finishers. Being a 10k, it was a fairly short shoot, so heading back home by early afternoon! Unusually, we didn’t shoot ‘live’ so uploaded the images once we got home.

The following week, was the popular Hackney Half in London. Over 20,000 runners took part in this event. This time we were shooting live and I didn’t get chance to take any spare camera shots, so here’s just a few phone images.

Just before this last couple of events, I had developed Carpal Tunnel problems in my left wrist and hand, so was shooting with a wrist brace and splint! Unfortunately 4 weeks on and it’s still not so good, so I have an doctor’s appointment booked in.

Obviously it’s affected my ‘other job’ playing guitar and I’m limited to one handed typing, hence the delay in adding new posts!
