Progress with Andromeda
21 October 2022A very quick post just comparing my images of Andromeda. Two things have become really clear about this Astro lark:
1) The longer total exposure you can get, the better – so the latest shot is made from over 700x15sec exposures (just under three hours)
2) You need to learn and refine the techniques needed to pull out all the information from the stacked image using Photoshop (other software packages are available)
First time I managed to capture Andromeda. 6 images manually stacked. 
My first attempt at proper processing. 9 minutes total 
Learned some more ‘stretching’ techniques 
Just under 2 hours, properly stacked, with more stretching techniques 
Latest Andromeda result – a further hour’s exposure and even better stretching
