Singer - Harmonica Player - Raconteur
I’m very sad to announce that after a year of ill health, Ronnie Wells passed away on Sunday 22nd September 2013
Ronnie was an original member of Sixties chart group The Viscounts along with  Don Paul and Gordon Mills, who later went on to manage Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck and Gilbert O’Sullivan.
During those years the group toured with legends in the music business including Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and The Beatles.  The Viscounts had two hit singles during the Sixties, namely Shortnin’ Bread and Who Put The Bomp, both of which are featured on numerous compilation albums. Another version of  Who Put The Bomp was included in the movie Grease. Currently, The Viscounts have their own individual album on release under the title Who Put The Bomp - The Pye Anthology.
During the Seventies and Eighties, Ronnie pursued a solo recording career under the name of Darren Wells, releasing singles in Europe and the UK with both Polydor and Gordon Mills’ own record label  M.A.M.
Up until the summer of 2012, Ronnie could still be seen on the cabaret circuit both here in the UK and in Mallorca, Spain, with two great solo albums available to buy on iTunes.

A versatile and experienced vocalist, Ronnie provided a special night to remember for any audience and any occasion.

For 30 years I was privileged to count Ronnie as a dear friend and as a fellow musician, worked with him on recording projects right up until last year.

You can hear some excerpts of Ronnie’s unique vocals in the media player above and his legacy of great music is still available to download on iTunes (click below).
